The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh Charak; ACR, Shokat Hayat Mattoo; ACD, Sheraz Ahmed; GM DIC, Ravinder Anand; Executive Engineer PWD, Ranjeet Singh and other concerned officers.
During the discussion, the DC highlighted the need to address discrepancies in prevailing land values and stamp duty structures. He said the primary objective is to ensure that the revised rates reflect ground realities, while supporting transparent and accountable revenue generation.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officers to thoroughly re-evaluate existing rates and propose justified enhancements, along with clear reasoning for the enhanced valuations. He emphasized that the new rates must strike a balance between government revenue requirements and fair regulation of sale-purchase transactions.
The DC further noted that with growing development activities across the district, certain areas are witnessing increased construction-related transactions, necessitating a realistic revision of stamp duty rates to align with current market trends.
