Zero tolerance approach adopted against Covid inappropriate behavior: DC

RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today  said that the district administration has adopted zero tolerance approach against Covid inappropriate behaviour   and for this strict implementation of COVID safety protocols  is being ensured in markets and public places  .  

Ramban Administration is focusing on more testing to assess actual positivity rate besides sensitizing the people to prevent spread of Covid infection in the district, the DC said while addressing media persons.

He said over 10500 tests have been conducted in the last week across the district, out of which 33 people tested Covid positive.

The DC said that in the current week the positivity rate has declined to 0.3%, while the overall positivity rate is 1.97% in the district.

Speaking at the weekly press briefing, the DC said nearly 65000 persons in the 18-44 age group, and 97% people in 45 year and above age group have been vaccinated in the district. The administration has further mobilized the health department to achieve 100% vaccination of 45 year and above age group within prescribed time.

He said that 1476 tests including 334 RT PCR and 1142 RAT were conducted on Saturday and no positive case was reported from anywhere.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the vaccination drive for the 18-44 year age group has witnessed overwhelming response across the district and a good number of people are taking vaccination doses on a daily basis. He said the remaining 6% people in the 45 year and above age group will be vaccinated within few days. “The vaccination process will be further scaled up to vaccinate all persons of targeted age group” he said.

During the 2nd surge a total 3802 positive cases were reported in the district of which 3701 have recovered and been discharged, he said and added that presently there are 49 positive cases under treatment, while the district has witnessed 49 Covid deaths. He said that all 49 positive patients are in home isolation.

 He said that the district has achieved significant infrastructural development in the health sector especially by establishing Rural Covid Care Centres in 143 Panchayats of the district.  Medical Oxygen Gas Concentrators besides other necessary equipment and medicines have been provided in all centers to provide isolation facilities to positive patients at Panchayat level, he added.  

The DC said that the District Administration has already conducted meetings with religious leaders and urged them to encourage the people to follow the fresh Covid guidelines issued by the UT level Executive committee during festivals.   

 The DC said that while taking strict action against the violation of Covid safety protocols, the enforcement teams have recovered nearly Rs 33 lakh fine since April 1.          

He said keeping in view the apprehension of resurgence of Covid infection, especially amid the increased commercial activities being witnessed  ahead of festival season, the District Administration has ordered the Enforcement teams to take strict action against violators, especially at busy markets and tourist spots of the district.

The DC said that Police and MVD are conducting regular checking drives to implement the order regarding plying of vehicles at 50% of total seating capacity.

Referring to relaxation in Covid restrictions and low positivity rate in the district, the DC urged the people to adopt Covid appropriate behaviour to avoid another surge in Covid cases.
