RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar, today discussed and finalized the arrangements for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Bhairav Jhanki procession and the celebration of Holi festival.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparedness of the stakeholder departments. He directed the concerned officers to ensure comprehensive arrangements well in advance. He stressed on maintaining proper cleanliness along the procession routes and at key congregation points. The Municipal authorities were asked to ensure sanitation measures and timely lifting of waste, besides proper functioning of street lights, repair of drain gratings and removal of encroachments along the procession routes to avoid any inconvenience to the public. He instructed the Health Department to deploy medical teams and ambulances at strategic locations, while the Fire & Emergency Services department was asked to keep fire tenders stationed at vulnerable points. To ensure smooth vehicular movement, the Traffic Police was directed to prepare a detailed traffic diversion plan.
Emphasizing the need for effective supervision, the Deputy Commissioner instructed for the deployment of Magistrates at sensitive locations and directed the engagement of responsible volunteers at every key point to facilitate orderly conduct of the events.
The Additional Deputy Commissioners of Nowshera, Sunderbani, Kalakote and Kotranka and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Thanamandi were asked to personally oversee and ensure necessary arrangements within their respective jurisdictions.
The Senior Superintendent of Police assured that adequate security arrangements would be put in place to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of the Bhairav Jhanki procession and Holi celebrations. He emphasized close coordination among departments to maintain law and order.
Among others present included ADC Chander Prakash; Tehsildar Varinder Gupta; Dy SP Headquarters Satish Kumar; Dy SP Operations Shammi Kumar; Medical Superintendent GMC, Dr. Shamim Ahmed; Executive Engineer PDD Muneer Ahmed; Executive Engineer PHE Sudesh Kumar; and other district and sectoral officers attended the meeting.
Prominent citizens from civil society also participated and extended their cooperation for the successful celebration of the events.
