DC Rajouri reviews measures to save water bodies

Emphasises strengthening scientific waste management

RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma today chaired a meeting to intensify the district-wide campaign aimed at saving water bodies and ensuring scientific processing of dry and wet waste to make Rajouri town clean and environmentally sustainable.

The DC informed that the district administration in collaboration with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), will launch a cleanliness drive tomorrow at 9:00 am to clean the Darhali River near Abdullah Bridge. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to protect natural water bodies from pollution and encroachments.

Furthermore, he stated that pits will be created at different locations for scientific decomposition of wet waste, to be taken up as a pilot project, especially at BGSBU.

He stressed that proper segregation and eco-friendly waste processing are crucial for effective sanitation and environmental protection.

The DC said that NSS students from BGSBU and PG College alongwith volunteers and members of the general public will actively participate in the cleanliness drive, adding that community participation is key to the success of such initiatives.

The DC urged all the stakeholders to extend full cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of the campaign and to sustain cleanliness efforts in the district.
