DC Rajouri reviews functioning of GMC Rajouri to strengthen healthcare delivery

RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today convened a review meeting in his Office Chamber to assess service delivery and ongoing healthcare projects at Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri.

The DC reviewed the implementation of various Central and UT Government health schemes being executed at GMC Rajouri and stressed upon ensuring their effective delivery to the public. He also took stock of the status of shifting of the Maternal and Child Hospital and directed the concerned authorities to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) within one week.

Expressing concern over maternal health indicators, the DC directed the authorities to conduct a detailed audit of maternal deaths at GMC Rajouri so that systemic gaps, if any, can be identified and corrective measures taken in a timely manner.

The DC also reviewed the referral pattern of patients and sought specific reasons for referrals, whether due to lack of diagnostic facilities or treatment gaps, and issued directions to minimise avoidable referrals by strengthening in-house medical and diagnostic services.

Further, the meeting reviewed the status of key infrastructure projects and facilities including Senior Residents (SRs) and Junior Residents (JRs) residential hostels, the 180-bedded hospital, sewerage and effluent treatment plant, Medical Gas Pipeline System (MGPS), and the 50-bedded Critical Care Block. The DC directed the executing agencies to expedite works, ensure quality standards and remove bottlenecks for timely completion of all projects.

Bhatia; Medical Superintendent, Dr. Shamim Ahmed; Chief Planning Officer, Maqsood Ahmed; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Manohar Lal Rana; Executive Engineer PWD, Aftab Anwar; Executive Engineer Electrical, besides Heads of Departments of different medical and para-medical wings.
