DDC inspects progress of work on key road projects in Rajouri Township; Sets deadlines for completion

RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today conducted an extensive tour of the city and inspected the Progress of work on the important city roads which are being executed by the Public Works Department.

The DDC was accompanied by EXN PWD, Maqbool Hussain; AEE PWD North, Mohd Qasim; AEE PWD South, Serwar Mehmood and officials of The PWD department.

The projects inspected today include double laning of Abdullah bridge, Circular road, Bela road and Gurdhan Road.

At Circular road, which is an important alternate link within the town connecting New bridge to Tariq bridge, thereby reducing the overall distance by around 4-5 kilometers and also help in lessening the congestion, it was informed that the work on retaining wall and shingle of the road is in progress. The DDC asked the officer concerned to speed up the work on the road so that it can be completed within the shortest possible time.

At Bella road, which connects Alternate Abdullah Bridge to Rajouri –Thanamandi road, by surpassing congested Gujjar Mandi Chowk, the DDC asked the concerned officer to work in double shifts and make sure that the work on the road is completed in twenty days. It was also informed at the site about that there are some bottlenecks which are obstructing the Completion of the road.

Regarding the double-laning of 120 meter Abdullah Bridge, it was informed that the project has been approved under languishing scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 4.78 crore. The DDC expressed his satisfaction over the work progress.

While inspecting the progress of the Gurdhan road and the approach road to Hamilton Bridge, the DDC said that connectivity is an important indicator of the progress of the area, better roads will attract more tourists and will ultimately benefit the economy of the district.

The DDC directed the EXN PWD to start the Blacktopping on the roads and clear all the blocked drains to avoid waterlogging.

The DDC directed the officers concerned to adhere to the timelines for completion and ensure close monitoring for maintaining the quality of works to meet the developmental aspirations of the general public. He also said no laxity will be tolerated regarding the quality of the projects.
