DDC Rajouri finalizes rates of essential commodities

RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan today chaired a meeting of the concerned officers, members of different associations and prominent citizens for finalization of rates of essential commodities.

A threadbare discussion was held during the meeting on several issues including fluctuation of rates, non-functioning of slaughterhouses, grading of essential commodities, proper checking of rate lists and checking of overpricing of the essential commodities and quality of the meat, chicken and milk-related products.

The DDC asked the concerned officers to ensure strict enforcement of the finalized rates of finalized so that the essential items are sold at uniform rates.

After detailed discussions, the Committee finalised the rates of the essential commodities including Mutton, Chicken, milk and milk products and eggs.

The meeting decided to form sub-committees for conducting market checking at regular intervals for enforcement of the rates and monitoring of the quality of the products as finalised by the district committee.

It was also decided in the meeting that the rates of Karyana, Vegetables and fruits would be fixed by the Committees after comparing the daily rates of the commodities in the neighbouring district Jammu and consultation with the president and members of the Beopar Mandal.

DDC made it clear that no laxity shall be given if any trader/shopkeeper found selling substandard material in the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sher Singh; Assistant Commissioners Revenue, Mohd Ashraf; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr Sarfaz; Assistant Director FCS & CA, Arif lone, other concerned District Officers, Rajesh Gupta, president Beopar Mandal; Ashok Kumar President Sweet Association; Joginder Pal Gupta, President Fruit and Vegetable Association Rajouri and members of other Associations.
