KISHTWAR: District administration Kishtwar has braced up for a massive mopping exercise and vaccination drive to achieve the inoculation targets in the district.  

 Briefing media persons, the Deputy Commissioner Ashok said that the move is aimed at to encourage the people to follow the COVID appropriate Behaviour religiously as the threat of covid is not yet over.

  He stressed upon universal usage of face masks, adherence to the maintenance of social distance, and   following other guidelines issued by govt in letter and spirit. “District administration is leaving no stone unturned to contain the spread of virus, but any irresponsible behaviour from any quarter can lead to unprecedented situation” he said.

He informed that during the 2nd surge the district reported 21 covid deaths, which is on higher side of the past year and a cause of concern for administration. He informed that this week 1 new containment Zone has been notified.

While speaking to the media persons, he implored them to spread the awareness regarding the vaccination of age appropriate persons.

He said that so far about 85% of 45 year and above age group persons have been vaccinated in the district.

He further briefed that that district administration is bracing to conduct door to door mopping exercise and Vaccination under the supervision of senior officers of the district. He said the vaccination drive has been intensified in densely populated areas to reduce the risk of infection.

It was also revealed that since 1st of March, 1756 cases have been reported, Out of which 1583 recovered and 157 are active at present.

He informed that this week  the positivity rate has dropped to 1.12 % with 94 positive cases, which is on high side whereas the total recoveries for the week has been 69 as against the 101 for previous week which is on down side.

He furthermore informed that all the COVID containment measures have been placed in to prevent any exigency.
