‘Positivity rate flattened to 2.56% this week’

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma today said that the district is showing visible improvement in covid situation with just one Covid patient in the district Hospital and 13 in Covid Care Centres.

He was briefing the media persons about the present covid situation in the district.

He appreciated the role of the general public and PRI members for lending a helping hand and demonstrating great sense of responsibility in combating the 2nd wave of COVID pandemic.

He informed that the district administration, in collaboration with health and other departments, has launched the vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group and the same is in full swing.

He further informed that the administration is going to scale up the vaccination and testing in the rural areas as a number of cases are still cropping up from rural areas.

He appealed to the masses to stick to the COVID appropriate behaviour.

He further informed that the district has recorded 74% vaccination coverage of 45 Plus category till date and a door to door vaccination drive is on to cover the leftover in a clean sweep mode.

He briefed that 13 micro containment zones have been de-notified after getting fully satisfied with the negative COVID reports, while rest will be de-notified as and when the administration was fully satisfied about the safety in these areas.

The DC informed that till date 1570 positive cases have been reported in the district, out of which 1406 have recovered and only 150 are still active.

He briefed that the recovery rate has picked up and the positivity rate has flattened this week to 2.56%.
