DC Kathua leads Swachhata Campaigns, Felicitates Winners of Painting & Essay Competitions under Sewa Parv

KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, today spearheaded a series of activities under the ongoing Sewa Parv celebrations focusing on Swachhata, youth engagement and personality development.

The day commenced with a visit to Government Higher Secondary School Budhi, where the Deputy Commissioner along with Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Vishavjeet Singh participated in a signature campaign, plantation drive and Swachhata campaign. The students were also administered a cleanliness pledge to reinforce the spirit of community responsibility.

While interacting with the students, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of October 2 and sensitized them about the vision of Mahatma Gandhi. He underscored that the ideals of truth, non-violence and Swachhata are timeless and called upon the younger generation to adopt cleanliness as a daily habit. The DC urged the students to watch the special episode on Gandhiji scheduled to air on 2nd October and reminded them that building a clean nation begins with individual responsibility.

Earlier, a prize distribution ceremony for painting and essay competitions, organized by Municipal Council Kathua under Sewa Parv, was held at the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex Kathua. Students from various schools and adjoining areas had participated in the competitions with enthusiasm, showcasing their creativity on themes of cleanliness and social awareness.

The Deputy Commissioner felicitated the winners from both senior and junior categories with prizes and certificates. In his address, he encouraged students to balance academics with co-curricular activities for holistic personality development and lauded the originality and social message reflected in their writings and artwork. He called upon the youth to act as Swachhata ambassadors, inspiring their families and communities to adopt cleanliness as a way of life.

The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kathua, Vishav Partap Singh, Chief Executive Officer MC Kathua, Amit Sharma, District Education Planning Officer Kathua and other concerned officers.
