DC holds virtual interactions with sarpanches to combat drug menace in Rajouri

RAJOURI: In a determined effort to address the grave issue of drug abuse in our society, Deputy Commissioner, Vikas Kundal  conducted a virtual interaction with Sarpanches as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. 

The objective of this significant engagement was to understand and support the strategies implemented by the Sarpanches in their relentless pursuit to eradicate this menace and establish drug-free panchayats.

During the interactive session, the sarpanches shared their experiences, activities and valuable suggestions, underscoring their unwavering commitment to making their panchayats drug-free. Despite the physical distance, their dedication and determination resonated strongly, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility among all participants.

The Deputy Commissioner also spoke against substance abuse, addressed the gathering, and threw light on the ill effects of drugs on individuals, families and society at large. Through the virtual platform, he effectively conveyed the gravity of the situation, emphasising the urgent need for a collective effort to create a healthier and drug-free environment for all.

Highlighting the significance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Deputy Commissioner expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Sarpanches for their unwavering dedication to this noble cause. He commended their proactive engagement and urged them to continue taking exemplary initiatives to combat the drug menace in their respective panchayats.

 Emphasising on the government’s vision to make drug-free panchayats, he reiterated the administration’s strong commitment to making the panchayats drug-free. He stressed upon the need for a comprehensive approach that includes strict enforcement of laws, community participation, awareness campaigns and counselling programmes. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of collaborative efforts between the administration, sarpanches, PRI members, and local communities to achieve the goal of drug-free panchayats.

As part of the district administration’s strategy, the Deputy Commissioner assured the Sarpanches of the unwavering support and cooperation of the authorities in implementing effective measures. He emphasised the provision of necessary resources, guidance, and technical support to enable the Sarpanches in their efforts to combat drug abuse at the grassroots level.

The Deputy Commissioner concluded the session with a firm resolve to work closely with the Sarpanches, local communities, and various stakeholders to realize the vision of a drug-free society. He urged every citizen to actively participate in this relentless campaign against drugs and emphasised the need for collective responsibility in safeguarding the well-being and future of our youth.
