Directs departments for timely preparations
GANDERBAL: In view of Muharram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today conducted an extensive visit to Kullan and Nilgrath areas of the district to review and assess the preparedness for smooth conduct of Muharram-related activities.
During the visit, DC took a detailed appraisal of the arrangements being put in place to facilitate the conduct of religious processions and other events, ensuring that devotees face no inconvenience during the sacred days.
Representatives from Shia and Auqaf Committees of Kullan and Nilgrath interacted with the DC and raised several key issues regarding uninterrupted water and power supply, installation and repair of street lights, sanitation measures, and the repair of inner roads.
Taking note of their concerns, DC issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned departments for time-bound redressal of the highlighted issues. He emphasized that all necessary arrangements must be completed well in advance to ensure a peaceful and organized observance of Muharram.
Executive Engineer R&B was directed to carry out immediate repairs and renovation works on inner roads where required. Assistant Director, FCS&CA, was instructed to ensure timely supply and distribution of essential commodities in these areas.
Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal was tasked with deploying First Aid Teams at both locations with sufficient stock of essential medicines and necessary medical supplies to cater to any health exigencies during the processions.
Further, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats was directed to ensure thorough cleanliness and sanitation around Imambaras and mosques from where the processions originate during Muharram.
DC was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, I&FC, and R&B, CMO, ACP, AD FCS&CA, Tehsildar Gund and other concerned officials.
