DC Ganderbal reviews preparations for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026

GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today chaired a comprehensive review meeting here to assess the preparedness of line departments for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026.

At the outset, the DC took a detailed review of the departmental action plans. He emphasized early tendering of works by the departments to ensure their timely completion for smooth and hassle-free conduct of the Yatra.

Threadbare discussions were held on various works under the Works Plan 2026. The DC directed all executing agencies to strictly adhere to timelines and ensure quality standards in all developmental and maintenance works along the Yatra route.

The meeting reviewed arrangements related to drinking water supply, road connectivity, sanitation, power supply, healthcare facilities, telecommunication services, disaster management preparedness, and public convenience measures.

All departments concerned were directed to prioritize and expedite works that directly enhance the safety and overall experience of Yatris during SANJY-2026.

Special emphasis was laid on ensuring sufficient number of booking counters for SRTC vehicles, macdamization of internal links & roads in Baltal Base camp, adequate medical facilities, deployment of emergency response teams, and strengthening communication networks in shadow areas.

The DC also directed the officers and representatives of various executing agencies to submit lists of workers well in time to ensure timely verification well before the commencement of the Yatra.

Labour Department and other agencies were directed to commence the registration process of service providers including Ponywalas, palkiwalas, shop and tent operators on priority.

The DC stressed inter-departmental coordination and real-time monitoring of works to address bottlenecks promptly.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer Sonamarg Development Authority, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Divisional Forest Officer, Sindh Forest Division, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Executive Engineers of R&B, KPDCL, I&FC, and Jal Shakti, Dy.SP DAR, representatives from Fire & Emergency Services, Labour, FCS&CA, Transport Department, and other concerned departments as well as representatives of BEACON, and telecom companies.
