DC Ganderbal finalizes arrangements for Republic Day 2026 celebrations

Calls for grand celebration of the national event

GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today chaired a meeting to review and finalize arrangements for a smooth and grand celebration of Republic Day 2026 in the district.

During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on all key arrangements at the main venue, including snow clearance in view of snowfall predictions, sanitation, seating arrangements, drinking water facilities, installation of public address system, traffic management and other essential logistics.

DC reviewed the preparedness of all concerned departments and issued clear directions to ensure fool proof and well coordinated execution of the event.

He directed the Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council Ganderbal and R&B department to keep adequate manpower and snow-clearance tools, including shovels, in readiness in case of snowfall.

He emphasized that Republic Day celebrations should feature vibrant cultural programmes, showcasing the rich cultural diversity and composite heritage of the nation.

In view of the second phase of the celebration of 150 years of the National Song, Vande Mataram being celebrated from 19th to 26th December, DC instructed that special cultural programmes highlighting the theme of Vande Mataram be organized to instill a sense of national pride among the participants and public.

Special emphasis was laid on maintaining sanitation, ensuring availability of gensets with proper backup, ambulance and first-aid services, transportation as well as ensuring proper stage management and seating plan.

DC also stressed beautification of the town and lighting of all government buildings and important landmarks in the district to mark the occasion.

The meeting was attended by the Additional District Development Commissioner, Manzoor Ahmad; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Faheem; Assistant Commissioner Revenue; Chief Planning Officer and officers and officials from various line departments.
