Over 100 CWSN beneficiaries receive assistive aids under Samagra Shiksha to promote inclusive learning

BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today inaugurated a distribution camp for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) under the Inclusive Education component of Samagra Shiksha at Higher Secondary School Soibugh.

The event was organised by district administration in collaboration with the Education department Budgam.

More-than 100 CWSN beneficiaries were provided with customized aids and appliances to support their educational journey. These included wheelchairs, CP (Cerebral Palsy) chairs, collators, hearing aids, smart sticks, braille kits, teaching-learning material (TLM) kits.

Besides, Joint Director Education, Kashmir; CEO Budgam and other senior officers from the Education and Social Welfare department were also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the event, DC emphasised that inclusive education is not only a constitutional mandate but a moral responsibility. He said this initiative is a message of empowerment, dignity, and opportunity.

He said every child, regardless of their physical or cognitive challenges, deserves the right to quality education, adding “District administration will ensure that no child in Budgam is left behind.”

Dr Bilal highlighted the government’s focused efforts under Samagra Shiksha to provide inclusive support to marginalized groups, especially children with special needs.

He urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to actively contribute towards building a learning environment rooted in empathy, equity, and accessibility.

DC called for sustained collaboration among institutions, families, and civil society to promote inclusive education in both letter and spirit.

He said, “We must work hand-in-hand to ensure that children with special needs are not only enrolled but fully engaged and empowered throughout their educational journey.”

Dr Bilal said this distribution camp is aimed at facilitating mobility, sensory support, communication, and learning enhancement for specially-abled children, ensuring their effective participation in regular schooling.

The event also witnessed enthusiastic participation from school staff, parents, and resource persons.
