DC Budgam chairs Public Darbar at Poshkar, Khag

BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today chaired a public darbar at Poshkar Panchayat Halqa of Block Khag.

At the outset, various PRIs, village elders and other respected people from Gogaldara, Poshkar, Haripora and other adjoining villages raised issues and demands with the DC and demanded timely resolution.

The issues and demands included development of roads particularly 3.5 kilometer road length between Poshkar to Gogaldara, connecting few nomadic areas, connectivity up to Baba Lateef U din Shrine, Deployment of vacant staff at NTPHC, improvement in power and water supply, functioning of  Nayabat office, adequate development of power infrastructure for hospital, playground, Water Supply Schemes upgradiation, Agriculture Zonal Office facility, seasonal store for seed distribution, distribution of quality fertilizers, pesticides and restorations of springs.

On the occasion, students of High School Poshkar and local youths also called upon the DC and raised their demands with him.

The DC called for holistic development of the area and impressed upon the concerned to ensure prompt redressal of public issues. He directed the Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep and Animal Husbandry offices to hold a joint awareness camp for locals on June- 4, next month.

In-order to ensure sale of quality fertilizers and pesticides, the DC instructed concerned to conduct inspection of dealers in the area.

The locals also demanded up gradation of schools, improvement in HT, LT lines and health facilities, upgradation of WSS and irrigation schemes.

The DC said that various JJM works have been approved to ensure improvement in the tap water supply to all the habitations in the area. He said under JJM projects worth Rs. 1240 crore shall be spent to provide tap water supply across the district.

The DC further instructed Panchayat members to ensure complete ban on use of one time plastic items and dumping of garbage roadside and in open areas. He said that instead separate dustbins are used for proper disposal of garbage generated daily by the households.

Among others, SDM Beerwah, CMO, CEO, BMO, District heads of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & sheep Husbandry, DMO, Executive Engineers from Engineering wings, and other concerned officers and officials were also present on the occasion.
