BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Chaki Arsala Khan and other adjoining areas under Block Diwas initiative of LG administration.
DDC Member Arin, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, ACD Ab Rashid Das, Ex. Er. Jal Shakti, BDO Arin and other concerned accompanied the DC.
Scores of individuals and deputations including PRI members met the DC and projected various public demands and issues including provision of better road connectivity to upper reaches, drinking water supply, uninterrupted power supply and other basic amenities.
The locals also demanded establishment of a Hospital in the area for the welfare of the public.
After giving a patient hearing to the demands of the people, the DC passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that Block Diwas initiative is aimed at to listen to public grievances and redress them in an efficient and coordinated manner. He also impressed upon officers of different departments to disseminate information regarding different schemes of their department.
Dr. Owais impressed upon officers to take up all measures in coordination with PRIs for roll out of Swachta Plan in rural areas from 2nd October.
Earlier, on the way to Arin Block, the DC inaugurated Panchayat level Volleyball Tournament at Gundpora. He urged youth to actively take part in sports and stay away from Drugs.
He said youth of Bandipora are always on forefront in sports activities and assured full sport in hand holding of youth.
The DC also inspected middle school Gundpora and took stock of facilities available and implementation of mid day meal scheme.
He also inspected the Water Supply Scheme of Vijhara Gamroo constructed at an estimated Cost 8.11 crores.
