DC B’pora holds meeting with representatives of Traders, Transport Associations, Religious Leaders

BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Tuesday held a meeting with religious leaders, representatives of traders and Transport Associations to discuss various issues in view of adherence of SOPs and other covid-19 mitigation efforts in the district.

The meeting discussed various precautionary measures that need to be taken in view of the looming threat of spread of the third wave of Covid-19 Pandemic and the SOPs to be followed especially at public places.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC urged the participants to motivate the people to adopt precautionary measures especially use of face masks and adopting social distancing. He stressed on the need of complete synergy in combating the impending threat of the Omicron variant, which he said is highly transmissible. He said Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) enforcement is the only solution to combat the aggressive transmission of the omicron variant.

The DC cautioned against lenient behavior of people in observing covid protocol, saying the district administration will act very tough against the violators even as he appealed all the stakeholders to extend co-operation to administration in the enforcement of CAB.

Dr Owais observed that health is the priority of every individual and it was imperative to work in complete coordination to defeat the 3rd covid wave and protect the public health by all means like they did in the past.

He asked the traders and transporters to disallow unmasked people in their business establishments and public vehicles, adding the concerned trader and driver will be personally held responsible for such lapses. He urged religious heads to use their influence to motivate people to adopt CAB.

He asked people not to lower the guard and continue to maintain the highest level of alertness to ensure implementation of SOPs to counter the spread of virus. He also asked them to appeal to the people to administer Covid-19 vaccine.

He reiterated that apart from executing proactive measures, mobilization of all resources and manpower shall be put on ready gear to enable the administration to tackle any emergencies arising from the second wave of Covid-19 Pandemic.
