BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a meeting at the DC Office Complex here to review proposals for upgrading Gulmarg Ski Resort into a fully equipped, internationally competitive winter sports destination.
The meeting focused on improving key infrastructure and operational capacities, including safety systems, emergency response, slope enhancements, and snowmaking technology to extend the ski season.
Officers from the concerned departments presented various inputs aimed at enhancing visitor experience and aligning facilities with international standards.
During the meeting, Managing Director, J&K Cable Car Corporation, Syed Qamar Sajad, presented a proposal outlining specific interventions such as avalanche mitigation systems, air ambulance services, weather monitoring equipment, and FIS-compliant trail development.
DC issued directions for time-bound planning, inter-departmental coordination, and strict adherence to safety and environmental norms. He also emphasized the importance of establishing a streamlined administrative structure to ensure efficient and accountable implementation of proposed measures.
Managing Director Cable Car Corporation J&K, Chief Executive Officer Gulmarg Development Authority, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gulmarg, Assistant Director Tourism, Tehsildar Tangmarg, Divisional Forest Officer Tangmarg, and other concerned officers were present during the meeting.
