DC Bandipora reviews Eid-ul-Adha arrangements

Interacts with religious leaders, Auqaf, trade members, Urges for strict adherence to Covid-19 SOPs

BANDIPORA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad today convened a meeting of all district officers to review the arrangements for the upcoming festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

The meeting was informed that on the eve of Eid ul Adha, the Sheep Husbandry Department has set up sale outlets (Mandies) for the sale of sacrificial animals (Goats/Sheeps) at designated places across the district. 

The DC said that the sacrificial animals shall be available only at the designated mandies under strict Covid-19 guidelines.

He asked the concerned to take appropriate measures for ensuring Covid-19 protocols at the sale mandies and place banners/poster’s regarding Covid-19 SOPs to sensitize the masses. 

The DC said strict orders have been placed so that no one should be allowed to violate SOPs related to COVID-19 because of anticipated consumer rush in the markets, and anyone found in such involvement will be dealt strictly under law.

Dr Owais also held a meeting with prominent religious leaders, Imams and Khateebs, Auqaf Committee members, Civil Society members and members of traders association of the district.

During the meeting participants were  urged to ensure strict adherence of Covid-19 related SOPs at religious places and markets during the festive occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

The DC reiterated that  the religious leaders, Imams, Khateebs and Management Committees of  Masjids have a key role in sensitizing people and bringing a behavioural change among them.

He also appealed to religious leaders to use their influence for ensuring every person follows Covid appropriate behaviour in and outside the mosques.

He also stressed to ensure a limited number of people assemble in Mosques for Eid prayers with proper adherence to SOPs. It was decided that the  Eid prayers shall be held in Masjids and shall be completed before 7 am.

The meeting was attended by Superintendent  of Police Mohammad Zahid, ACR Bandipora Parvaiz Rahim, SDM Sumbal Dr Bashir Ahmad, Tehsildars, EOs, besides Imams, Khateebs, Auqaf Committee members , Civil society members and trade association members.
