Cumulative inoculations cross 4 lac mark in the district, Appeals people to stick to Covid SOPs

ANANTNAG: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla today said that Covid Situation has improved significantly with recovery rate going upwards to 98.47 percent and positivity rate dropping to 0.085 percent for the last 07 days.

The DC however cautioned that the danger has not averted yet and said vaccination and Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) are absolutely vital to prevent another wave.

Advising people not to lower the guard against the virus, the DC said it is the responsibility of every person to deny even the slightest of chances for the virus to re-emerge again.

Dr. Singla made these remarks while briefing on COVID-19 scenario and the measures taken by the district to address the situation that arose due to its 2nd wave. 

Apprising about the vaccination figures, the DC said cumulatively more than 4.04 lac doses have been administered to various categories of beneficiaries so far and the target population is being inoculated with 2nd dose as well. 

Dr. Singla informed enforcement teams are imposing fines on Covid SOP violators and ensuring the observance of CAB at markets, public parks, tourist sites and other potential crowded places. He appealed to people to stick to Covid SOPs adding those become paramount during unlock phase when chances of exposure to virus are highest. 

Regarding testing, the DC said it has been ramped up to above 3500 tests per day which is giving a better picture of infection and has been effective in further controlling the virus in the district. 

The DC stressed on all stakeholders to keep supporting the administration in its endeavour to contain the pandemic efficiently.
