CUK, Physical Edu College celebrate 5th international Yoga Day

Ganderbal: The Department of Students Welfare (DSW) Central University of Kashmir (CUK) in collaboration with Government College of Physical Education, Ganderbal, celebrated 5th International Yoga Day 2019 at the College of Physical Education stadium here on Friday.

The students and staff members of CUK, Government Degree College Ganderbal, College of Physical Education and Department of AYUSH, participated in the event and received orientation training about Yoga practice and its advantages in maintaining good health. 

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Government College of Physical Education, Principal, Dr. Hartej Singh, DSW Deputy Director, Mr. Faizan Ashraf Mir, AYUSH, Ganderbal, Nodal Officer, Dr. Mushtaq and Yoga Trainer, Dr. Irfan were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the participants, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, highlighted the benefits and importance of performing Yoga and asked the participants to perform different physical exercises for the overall growth and development of their mind and body. He further said that Yoga has no religion, adding that performing Yoga rejuvenates the whole body.  

Prof. Mir thanked Dr. Hartej Singh, for extending all possible help and support in holding the event. He said the university and the Physical Education College would continue to collaborate and hold events of mutual interest in near future.

Government College of Physical Education, Principal, Dr. Hartej Singh while addressing the participants, said the Yoga day is celebrated across the country and the world with great enthusiasm. He asked the participants to perform Yoga continuously for the peace of mind and to counter certain illnesses, which otherwise needs medication. He also enumerated the benefits of the Yoga.
