AEFI district committee discusses COVID19 vaccination plan at Rajouri

RAJOURI: The second meeting of newly constituted Adverse Effects Following Immunization (AEFI) district Committee, under COVID19 immunization programme, was held at here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shamim Bhatti.

The committee, which has been constituted on the directions of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is having mandate to oversee the protocol of reporting and follow-up of any case of effects of COVID19 vaccination. The Committee comprises members from various allied departments and stakeholders of different sections of society.

The meeting held threadbare discussion on immunization plan for the district.

District Immunization Officer, Dr. Parveen Yograj said that the immunization drive will start on January 16 and health workers will be administered vaccine in Government Medical College Rajouri and at Sub District Hospital Sunderbani.

He said that an online database has been prepared for the health workers and efforts are being made to ensure complete coverage of health workers for immunization under the first phase.

Additional SP Rajouri, Liaqit Ali, representing the district police, said that police is also working on all aspects to ensure a smooth immunization programme in the district.

Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shamim Bhatti, while discussing the immunization plan, said that the aim of the AEFI committee is to oversee the pattern of reporting of any case of effect of immunization and it’s follow up.

She said that all the allied departments have been made a part of the immunization plan to ensure its smooth launch as well as continuity as per directions from government.

Among others the meeting was attended by District ASHA Coordinator, Dr. Farooq Mir; HoD Community Medicine of GMC Rajouri, Dr. Shuja Qadri;  Journalist Sumit Bhargav, doctors from Government Medical College, officials of ICDS and other members of AEFI committee.

All the AEFI Committee members resolved to co-operate in the event of any such AEFI happening.
