CMO takes first jab, 2224 to vaccinated in phase-1

KARGIL: The Covid-19 vaccination drive that started on Saturday across the country was started in Kargil on Monday.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir received the first shot and officials said that 2224 health workers will be covered in the first phase.

Top health official from Ladakh told Covid vaccination drive is also going on normally in Leh district where it was started on Saturday.

He said proper management of the vaccination has been taken in consideration by dividing the vaccination Centre into waiting room, vaccination room and observation room

Notably, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan kick started COVID-19 Vaccination in Kargil at District Hospital Kargil .

Executive Councilor for Works Mubarak Shah Nagvi, Executive Councilor for Social Welfare Aga Syed Hassan Arman, Executive Councillor for Tourism Er Phunsog Tashi, Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil Tsering Motup, Vice President Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Kargil Sheikh Bashir Shakir, Buddhist scholar Geyn Nawang Paljor, President Anjuman-e-Sufia Noorbakshiya Kargil Aga Syed Muhammad Shah, Medical Officers of District Hospital Kargil, members of civil society and healthcare workers were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, CEC Feroz Khan applauded the efforts of the Health Care Workers, Administration and civil society for containing the pandemic until the arrival of COVID-19 vaccine and called it a historic day for Kargil.

Feroz Khan underscoring the importance of the vaccination said that all should vaccinate themselves with enthusiasm and suggested to avoid the rumors related to the vaccine.

The CEC added that it is due to the relentless dedication of the scientists that the nation has been able to develop the vaccine in the country itself. He also lauded the team of Health Department Kargil for carrying out the drive with proper precautions and precision.

On this occasion, the CMO Kargil Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir said that since he took the vaccination shots, there has been no reaction or adverse effect of it.

Dr Munawar Wazir added that it is like a normal vaccination and requested the people to enroll themselves to get vaccinated on priority when their turn comes and avoid rumors related to the vaccine.

Meanwhile, 98 health workers were vaccinated on the first day in Kargil.

Moreover, 2224 health workers are going to get vaccinated in a phased manner at 23 vaccination centres in Kargil District during the first phase of vaccination.

It is pertinent to mention here Ladakh received 11,500 covishield vaccines last week which were equally distribution between Leh and Kargil.
