COVID-19: J&K reports 6 deaths, 331 positive cases

Srinagar reports 78 cases, case tally at 316,291, death toll mounts to 4,333, active cases decrease to 4,209, recovery rate at 97.30 percent

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Friday witnessed six deaths due to Covid-19 while 331 fresh positive cases were also reported, taking the number of total active cases in the UT to 4,209.

With 06 more deaths the death toll in the UT has reached to 4,323 and 331 fresh positive cases reported on Friday has pushed the tally of positive cases to 316,291

Of the exact number of 316,291 cases, 196,439 are from Kashmir division and 119,852 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 331 new cases, 254 belong to Kashmir division while as 77 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 196,439 including 191,841 recoveries and 2,221 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 119,852including 115,908 recoveries and 2,112 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,209 including 2,377 from Kashmir division and 1,832 from Jammu division.

With 437 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 307,749 which is 97,30 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 78 from Srinagar, 27 from Baramulla, 29 from Budgam, 27 from Pulwama, 18 from Kupwara, 26 from Anantnag, 06 from Bandipora, 19 from Ganderbal, 22 from Kulgam and 02 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 77 from Jammu division include 12 from Jammu, 07 from Udhampur, 07 from Rajouri, 13 from Doda, 05 from Kathua, 03 from Samba, 08 from Kishtwar, 04 from Poonch, 13 from Ramban and 05 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Meanwhile, authorities on Friday said that no fresh case of Mucormycosis popularly known as black fungus was reported in the UT and toll of total cases of Mucormycosis stands at 29.

Out of 06 deaths reported today, 01 died in GMC Doda, 01 died in GMC Jammu, one in Govt hospital Gandhi Nagar (MCH Wing) and 01 in GMC Anantnag.

As per officials figures, 70,121 positive cases including 829 deaths and 68,504 recoveries are from Srinagar, 23,290 including 278 deaths and 22,735 recoveries are from Baramulla, 22,605 including 22,136 recoveries and 204 deaths are from Budgam, 14,897 including 14,537 recoveries and 192 deaths are from Pulwama, 13,833 including 165 deaths and 13,428 recoveries are from Kupwara, 16,116 including 15,736 recoveries and 203 deaths are from Anantnag, 9,312 cases including 9,088 and 100 deaths are from Bandipora, 9,620 including 9,362 recoveries and 76 deaths are from Ganderbal, 11,089 including 10,802 recoveries and 116 deaths are from Kulgam and 5,556 including 5,488 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 52,411 including 50,761 recoveries and 1,135 deaths are from Jammu district, 11,187 including 10,966 recoveries and 131 deaths are from Udhampur, 10,721 including 10,371 recoveries and 220 deaths are from Rajouri, 6,852 including 6,517 recoveries and 117 deaths are from Doda, 9,212 including 9,031 recoveries and 149 deaths are from Kathua, 7,087 including 6,916 recoveries and 119 deaths are from Samba, 4,493 including 4,308 recoveries and 42 deaths are from Kishtwar, 6,110 including 5,798 recoveries and 92 deaths are from Poonch, 5,855 including 5,676 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Ramban and 5,924 including 5,564 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 2,446,492 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 13,014 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 4,209 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 2,195,382 persons have completed surveillance period and 229,554 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 10,077,056 samples are available. Out of 10,077,056 the number of samples tested negative stands at 9,760,765 while as 316,291 have tested positive, among them 4,209 persons are active, 307,748 persons have recovered and 4,333 persons have died.
