Controller LMD J&K holds interactive session with trade bodies at Katra under GST 2.0 awareness drive

KATRA: As part of the ongoing GST 2.0 awareness and outreach programme, Controller Legal Metrology Department J&K Rajinder Singh Tara convened an interactive session with leading trade and business associations. He was accompanied by Joint Controller Jammu, Manoj Prabhakar, along with other senior officers of the Department.

The session witnessed active participation from prominent stakeholders, including Rakesh Wazir, President, Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra (HRAK); Shyam Lal Kesar, Chairman, HRAK; Virender Kesar, President, Chamber of Commerce Katra & Sr. Vice President, HRAK; Kuldeep Raj Sadhotra, President, Dry Fruit Association and Shanker Singh, President Auto Union.

In his address, the Controller stressed the importance of transparent implementation of GST revisions, underlining that the benefits of GST reduction must reach consumers in both letter and spirit. He highlighted that consumer rights and business growth can move forward together when trade practices are anchored in fairness and accountability.

Trade body representatives expressed their full cooperation in ensuring compliance with GST norms and pledged to spread awareness among traders and consumers. The Hotel & Restaurant Association Katra, along with other participating associations, assured the Department of their continued support.

Concluding the session, the Controller reaffirmed the Department’s role as a vital bridge between the government, trade bodies, and consumers—promoting ease of doing business while protecting consumer interests.
