JKPCC welcomes high command’s decision, calls him a dedicated politician

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Wednesday welcomed the High Command’s decision to nominate veteran party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad to head a COVID relief task force that will coordinate the party’s pandemic mitigation activities.

A statement issued by JKPCC Vice President and former MLC G N Monga to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that a virtual meeting of senior party leaders was held today where all the participants welcomed the decision of AICC chief Sonia Gandhi to assign Azad such an important assignment in these tough times.

The leaders said Azad’s contributions as Union Health Minister during UPA-II were immense as health infrastructure across the country and in Jammu and Kashmir witnessed huge growth.

“Azad is a dedicated politician who all his life contributed for the welfare of people in whatever role he was assigned. This time also the party high command’s decision will bring a lot of relief to the common people, who are bearing the brunt of COVID19 pandemic,” they said and appealed to Congress workers to provide every possible support and help to people in these testing times.

Those who participated in the virtual meeting besides G N Monga, included Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed (former J&K PCC president and ex-minister), Tara Chand (former Deputy Chief Minister), G M Saroori (Vice President JKPCC and former minister), Mohammad Anwar Bhat (Vice President) and KhemLata Wakhloo (former minister and senior leader).
