Jammu:  Congress today  walked out of the venue and boycotted the meeting with the team of delimitation Commission, as the party had not been invited and there was no mention of Congress party in the list of delegations, although leaders invited in individual capacity only.

A team of senior Congress leaders comprising  Ravinder Sharma, Chief Spokesperson, Yogesh Sawhney, Former Minister & General Secretary PCC and Ashok Dogra, Ex-MLA (Secretary) & Spokesperson JKPCC reached venue of the meeting at 12 Noon as per invitation but walked out and boycotted the meeting, after some time when found that invitation was only in individual capacity not to the congress party.

Briefing waiting media persons, Ravinder Sharma said that as a matter of respect, Congress honoured the invitation extended to them as signatory of the PCC objections to the draft report. The party decided that we should honour the invitation extended to the signatory of the objections of the party but Commission should be told to give sufficient time to the party to brief it about the resentment over the draft report regarding injustice to different areas and districts.

However, finding that there is no system and appointment of the Congress party, it was decided to walkout of the venue & boycott the meeting in individual capacity,. However individual leaders from different respective assembly segments or districts were given the liberty to meet the Commission, he said.

Chief Spokesperson said that the meeting of 300 delegations in a couple of  hours is an eye wash and the commission would do only cosmetic exercise, which is injustice to the people. He said that Congress party has submitted detailed objections to the draft report and pointed out glaring illegalities & irregularities in the report, which is far away from ground situation and required drastic review in the interests and convenience of general public.

He said that the commission had no answer  to the queries and  objections raised by the Congress party regarding gross violation of norms and ground realities, so they avoided the Congress as a party and  invited only the individual leaders to represent their respective areas. He said we expect no justice from the Commission, however wanted to meet the Commission and give positive suggestions about all parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
