Congress commemorates 136th Foundation Day

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Monday commemorated 136th Congress Foundation Day at Srinagar Party Office and vowed to continue to strengthen and serve the people.

In a function held at Srinagar Party office, in which senior Congress leaders and workers highlighted the importance of Congress Foundation Day and said Party has 136th years of service to the Nation and will continue to serve and unite people, as that, Congress Party is the only unifying force in the country, fully capable to defend the secular fabric and harmony in the country.

According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), leaders said that Congress founders have contributed immensely to freedom struggle and gave countless sacrifices, resulting in the Nation achieved the freedom from the foreign rule, restoring its lost honour and dignity.

Nation will never forget the sacrifices and services of the Congress Party, despite distortion of facts and malicious propaganda by the BJP RSS aiming to change the narratives, but as a responsible Nation, India has always rejected the divisive and communal forces and will continue to defeat their designs in order to strengthen the democracy in the country, they said.

The participants termed the Congress party as all-weather friend of people, which has worked very hard during and post-independence to build the Nation, bringing it at par with the fast-developing countries of the world under the leadership of first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, who laid the foundation of modern India and ensured its inclusive development. 

They also saluted the bravery of other founding leaders of the Congress Party and hailed their contributions to freedom struggle and the role played by them in Nation building, they said.

People will never forget the achievements, services and sacrifices of the Congress to Nation, Congress leaders added and urged the them (people) to rise to the occasion to strengthen Congress party, for the fact, Congress is an instrument of service and it will continue to safeguard the rights of the people, besides fighting against the discrimination and victimization against them (people) by the BJP ruled Centre Govt, they said.

Senior party leader and Ex. MLA Bashir Ahmad Magrey presided over the function.

Those who spoke on the occasion included PCC General Secretaries Surinder Singh Channi, Shameema Iqbal, DCC President Abdul Gani Khan, Senior Leader G. N. Mir Lasjan, Nissar Ahmad Mundoo,Dr. Ayoub Mattoo, Abdul Rashid Dar (Sangrama) Mir Rovais, Asif Beigh, Saira, Shameema Sopori, Yasir Amin Pndit, Muzaffar Ahmad, Zulkar Qureshi and various other party leaders and frontal organization heads.
