Around 124 rearers sell their produce at Rs 12.45 lakh
REASI: On the public demand for early marketing of cocoon, Sericulture Development Department, Reasi today organised Cocoon Auction Market here at Pouni.
Around 124 rearers participated & sold 4434.150 kg of cocoon crop valuing Rs 12.45 Lakh.
The highest rate recorded was Rs 980 per kg while average rate for the Market stood at Rs 842 per kg (dry) for today. The total crop sold in the district has touched 12273.600 KG costing Rs 37.18 lakh at the time of close of the Market.
As per the department around 38 women farmers also participated in the cocoon auction market. The buyers from UT and outside especially from west Bengal and Karnataka participated and bought the cocoons directly from the farmers.
The farmers were very happy and satisfied. They appreciated this endeavor of administration and demanded for procuring more crops and covering of maximum number of their counterparts through these arrangements.
