CM Omar to chair emergency cabinet meet in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will chair an emergency cabinet meeting in view of the prevailing situation along the borders and Line of Control in the Union Territory after India carried out air strikes inside Pakistan in response to Pahalgam terror attack, sources said.

Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that CM will chair the meeting with all cabinet colleagues in Srinagar to assess the situation along the border and LoC areas in Jammu and Kashmir 

Earlier, the Chief Minister chaired an emergency meeting with deputy commissioners of Kathua, Jammu, Samba, Rajouri, Poonch, Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora via video conferencing. 

“Assessed the ground situation along the border and LoC. Divisional Commissioners and DCs briefed on the prevailing situation. Emphasised on safeguarding civilian lives and ensuring timely response at all levels,” office of CM posted on X. 

It also stated that in light of current developments, the CM directed immediate release of contingency funds to all Deputy Commissioners. “Officials have been instructed to counter misinformation and urge the public to rely only on verified sources. Let’s stand united and resilient,” it said.
