Clean India Campaign: Animal Husbandry Deptt organises mega calf show at Bandipora

BANDIPORA: The Department of Animal Husbandry on Friday organised a mega Calf Show at Veterinary Complex Bandipora as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsov’ besides observing Clean India Programme.

During the event, calves of different breeds including CBHF, CBJ and Denmark were kept at the show that attracted a number of people. The public especially breeders were made aware about different breeds and their hygienic ways of management.

On the occasion, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) Bandipora, Dr. G A Lone addressed the gathering of dairy farmers, poultry farmers, milk-men, senior citizens, employees of the department besides PRIs members of the district.

Dr Lone stressed upon the importance of cleanliness in farm management, hygienic methods of milk production, chemical/antibiotic residue free poultry production, organic egg production etc.

The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony in presence of PRIs, where 03 best calves out of all the calves in the show were chosen based on different criteria viz Hygiene, Body Condition Score etc and were awarded accordingly.

Upon the directions of CAHO Bandipora, all the VASs of the district organized drives to explain and demonstrate different methods of maintaining clean and hygienic environment of dairy/poultry farms.

Likewise a yak show was organized at Gurez, where in hygienic methods of management were explained to the farmers by BVO Gurez Dr Izhar-ul-Haq.

The farmers thanked the department and the Deputy  Commissioner Bandipora, for their efforts in promoting  hygienic milk and poultry production in the district.
