Later, in another incident in south Kashmir Anantnag’s Bijbehara area, an ASI was fired upon by militants, resulting in critical injuries to him. The injured personnel was later taken to a Srinagar-based hospital for advanced treatment but succumbed to his injuries. Police have identified the slain ASI as Mohammad Ashraf.

However, the militants after killing a civilian in Srinagar and an ASI in south Kashmir managed to flee the areas. Both the spots where the killings took place saw a huge presence of security forces to nab the assailants.

It is pertinent to mention that an attack was carried out at a Naka point on a team of police and CRPF in Srinagar’s Soura area last evening in which no casualty occured. However, as per official, one of the militants had been injured in the retaliatory firing from the security personnel.
