DC chairs emergency meeting to discuss COVID-19 surge in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR:  Due to latest surge of COVID- 19 cases in the district, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib today convened emergency meeting with District officers, Councillors, representatives of different Organization of District Udhampur, here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex.

 The DDC Chairperson, Lal Chand, President Municipal Council, Jogeshwar Gupta and councillors were also invited to participate in the meeting for their valuable inputs and cooperation to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan; Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Viqar Giri, besides Principals of schools  and other senior officers from CRPF, BSF attended the meeting.

Threadbare discussion were held on various issues which included  home isolation, Contact tracing, Nomination of Nodal Officers,  Functioning of Covid  Care Centres, Sample collection of travellers,  Strict adherence of night curfew, Ward wise vaccination, Mass level RT-PCR testing,  SOPs of home Quarantine like Separate toilets for home Isolation patients etc discussed in detail.

The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. K C Dogra gave a brief about the COVID-19 scenario in the District. He informed the participants about measures to be followed for prevention of this virus.

While speaking on the occasion, the DC appealed all BDCs, DDCs, Councillors, PRIs, religious organizations and general public to celebrate of festivals at home as far as possible and follow Government directives on gathering protocols strictly in functions and marriages. The DC sought cooperation of PRIs for strengthening the efforts of the district administration to contain the spread of Corona Virus infection in the district.

Referring to the latest surge of COVID-19 cases in the country as well as in the society, she stressed the urgency for the conduct of RTPCR and RAT testing   in a time bound manner. DC appealed the masses to go for RT-PCR testing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection and to avoid further infection among the masses.

She further appealed to the general public to go for COVID-19 vaccination to avoid the spread of COVID-19 infection as vaccination is extremely important for immunity against the COVID-19 infection.  Health department was asked to nominate Nodal officers, and designated nodal officers will fill the format of contact tracing and home isolation in Excel sheets and submit report on daily basis through CMO Office to EOC, she added.

The BMOs were directed to activate men and machinery at zonal level and work strictly as per mechanism devised by the health department and latest SOPs issued by the government. In order to sensitize the public of the district about the COVID- 19 disease, DC stressed upon the health department to evolve an effective containment strategy for early detection of COVID cases for controlling the spread of corona virus.

CMO was asked to take necessary steps to adopt strategy to control the infections in rural areas. DC requested the general public of the District to strictly follow night curfew. She further appealed the general public to stay home and adhere to social distancing and wearing face mask for preventing the spread of the Corona Virus in the district.  She also impressed upon the general public to follow the SOPs norms so that the district is saved from this deadly virus.
