Block Diwas held at Imamsahib, Shopian

SHOPIAN: The weekly Block Diwas was today held at Imamsahib, Shopian under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya.

People in large numbers attended the Block Diwas at the venue and flagged-off several demands including up-gradation in health infrastructure, Education sector besides extension of road connectivity, proper water and power facilities in the area.

During the programme, demands regarding macadamisation of roads, execution of works under MGNREGA, upgradation of electric poles, among others were also raised by the participants.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed that the Block Diwas mechanism has been instrumental in bridging the gap between people and administration and directed the officers to ensure that all grievances raised are resolved, fulfilling the aim of organizing these public outreach programs.

He said that the Government is fully committed to fast and better delivery of public services. He said that several services particularly related to revenue are being provided online and people should take benefit of this facility.

He also said that online delivery of services has not only reduced the time of delivery but has also created an accountability mechanism and responsibility of delay will be fixed on the erring officers.

The DC stressed on coordination among PRIs and officials to ensure welfare of the public.

He said that several works are being implemented by Rural Development for welfare of the panchayats. He said it is the responsibility of the public to conduct social audits of these works and ensure that public money is being spent responsibly and for community benefit.

The block diwas was also attended by SDM Zainapora, Mushtaq Ahmad; ACD, Hilal Ahmad; CHO, CAHO, DSHO, Tehsildar concerned, BDOs besides representatives from line departments along with PRI members and local people of the area.

People of the area thanked the District Administration for taking up the macadamization of Shopian-Imam Sahab road.
