BJP relieves Vikram Randhawa from all posts for making derogatory remarks

Srinagar: Days after making derogatory comments, the former legislator, Vikram Randhawa was on Tuesday relieved by the Jammu and Kashmir unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from all posts.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Randhawa, as per the order issued by BJP’s J&K president, Ravinder Raina has been relieved from all the posts including that of Secretary post, with immediate effect.

Randhawa had allegedly made derogatory remarks against Kashmiri Muslims following which a case was registered at Bahu Fort Police Station on the basis of a written complaint by Advocate Muzaffar Ali Shah.

The video statement of Randhawa was posted on social media by the netizens including the political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir. Mehbooba Mufti, president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former chief minister of J&K also stated that no action was taken against an ex-BJP MLA, who calls for genocide of Kashmiris.

“No action taken against an ex BJP MLA who calls for genocide of Kashmiris & to skin them alive. But J&K students are charged with sedition for merely cheering the winning team. India is surely the mother of all democracies,” Mehbooba tweeted yesterday.

Meanwhile, in an order issued by the party’s J&K president, Randhawa has been removed from all the posts.

“Mr. Vikram Randhawa (Former MLC) is relieved from all party posts/responsibilities including the post of BJP J&K-UT secretary post with immediate effect,” the order reads.

“BJP J&K-UT Vice president Sham Choudhary (Former Minister and Ex-MLA Suchetgarh) shall be the new Prabhari/Incharge for District Rajouri,” it added.
