BJP leader’s guard flees with rifle in north Kashmir

BARAMULLA: A cop posted on residential guard duty with a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader on Wednesday fled with a rifle in Rafiabad area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Sources said that the cop Waseem Ahmad fled with the rifle of another police constable Dilshad Ahmad.

He was posted on guard duty with Mohd Maqbool War alias Maqbool Vakil.

Meanwhile, police in a statement said:”It is learnt that one SPO namely Waseem Ahmed resident of Shatloo P/S Panzala has stolen a weapon from the PSO of a protected person in Sopore from the personal trunk of the PSO. The said SPO was posted at the M M WAR guard and was there without a weapon. Police have started an investigation into the matter after registration of a case”.
