NEW DELHI: The BJP on Monday appointed Union minister Piyush Goyal and national vice president Baijayant Panda as in-charges for the 2026 Tamil Nadu and Assam elections.
Goyal will be assisted by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Minister of State for Aviation Muralidhar Mohil in Tamil Nadu.
In Assam, the party has named Leader of Opposition in the Jammu & Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma and former minister Darshana Jardosh as co-in-charges.
The BJP will aim to defend its government in Assam and expand its electoral footprint in Tamil Nadu, which has traditionally oscillated between the two Dravidian parties, DMK and AIADMK.
The orders for the appointments were issued by BJP general secretary Arun Singh.
