KUPWARA: The Border Security Force (BSF) Monday claimed to have foiled Pakistan’s Border Action Team’s (BAT) action close to the fence at the Machil sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Talking exclusively to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Border Security Forces (BSF) north Kashmir, R Mathur Krishna said that the attempt of Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) was completely foiled by the BSF with the timely action close to the fence and the searches launched have been called off.

He said that a suspicious movement was observed close to the line of control (LoC) that came under the timely active fire of BSF deployed there.

“The attempt was made by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) and it stands completely foiled by the BSF,” he said.

He said that due to bad and inclement weather conditions in the area they (BAT) have gone back and since the movement was initially detected by BSF that was interrupted timely.

To a question about the searches in the suspected area, the DIG said that the search operation has concluded and nothing was found.

It may be recalled that the BSF sentry on the intervening night of Sunday-Monday observed suspicious movement at the Tower Post in Machil sector and fired some gunshots that reported late retaliation.

Notably, in the ensuing month on November 08, joint security forces claimed to have foiled a major infiltration bid in the machil sector that ended with the killing of three infiltrators and four soldiers, an officer and a BSF trooper.
