Awareness camp on ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence’ held at Verinag

ANANTNAG: One Stop Centre, Anantnag in collaboration with the Child Development Project Office, Larkipora today held a one day awareness camp on Women Empowerment and Protection of Women from Domestic Violence at Verinag, here.

On the occasion, the resource persons apprised the participants about different aspects and dimensions of women empowerment. Elaborate lectures were delivered on the topic wherein stress was laid on social, economic and psychological empowerment of women.

During the camp, the resource persons explained the definition, types and legal remedies available to address the issues of domestic violence against women. They highlighted the role of various stakeholders like government agencies, judiciary, police, social activists, NGOs and others for ensuring the victims of domestic violence are provided timely protection, medical and legal aid besides facilitating their dignified rehabilitation.

To make the efforts of the stakeholders successful, the participants were impressed upon to equip themselves with adequate knowledge of the relevant provisions of law and perform their role vis a vis the subject with commitment and determination.

The Camp was attended by CDPO, Larkipora, BMO, Verinag, Chairman, OSC, Police Facilitation Officer, OSC, Centre Administrator, OSC Supervisors and AWWs, ICDS Larkipora, ASHA Workers besides other officials and field functionaries of these departments.
