Awareness camp on BBBP held at Sangerwani, Pulwama

PULWAMA: The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) awareness camp was today held at Higher Secondary Abhama and High School  Sangerwani by ICDS Department in collaboration with Department of Education and Mahila Shakti Kendra (Pulwama).

 Awareness campaign  was conducted regarding health hygiene and various schemes implemented in Sangerwani  and Abhama zones of ICDS project Keller.

The functions were held on the directions of District Development Commissioner, Baseer- ul -Haq Chowdary and DPO ICDS Pulwama, Dr Zahoor Ahmad with the aim to promote greater awareness about rights of adolescent girls and gender equity and role of women in tackling pollution at local level.

  CDPO Keller Shadimarg presided over the function and lauded the importance of adolescent girls and role of women in the betterment of the society  .

In the programme, awareness was given regarding various schemes like Ladli beti, PMKVY, Marriage assistance and supplementary nutrition  etc. and  urged people to come forward for availing benefit of these schemes.

Besides thrust was given putting all energies by all stakeholders to end crimes against girls like  female foeticide, sex determination and domestic violence against women and stress was laid down to end gender inequalities.

At the end, 50 health hygiene kits  were distributed  among the adolescent girls enrolled in Higher Secondary Abhama and High School Sangerwani in presence of principal/ Headmaster and other staff members.
