Srinagar’s Polo View to host 3rd edition of Soulful Kashmir, mesmerise visitors with niche handmade products
SRINAGAR: Riding high on the success of the first two editions of ‘Know Your Artisan’ series held at Jhelum Riverfront and Ghanta Ghar, the Department of Handicrafts & Handloom, Kashmir, is organizing the third leg of its ‘Soulful Kashmir’ campaign at the historic Polo View Market, here on Thursday.
In a press release issued today, a spokesperson of the Department stated as many as 12 stalls will be on display, showcasing unique handcrafted creations from Kashmir. alongside the One District One Product (ODOP) items. “The campaign is providing a great opportunity to the general public to directly connect with the master artisans, while also to the craftsmen to engage in direct marketing of their products,” he said.
To enrich the experience, the Department is also setting up a ‘Try Corner’, offering visitors firsthand opportunity to explore their hands at pottery, papier-mâché, and needlework. “In addition, live music performances will also be organized to create a heritage-inspired craft ambience at the venue,” he stated.
The Department has urged the general public, tourists and buyers to visit Polo View edition of ‘Know Your Artisan’ in large numbers and extend their support to the craft maestros by participating in the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative.
