Seven BAT personnel killed in Keran: Army

KUPWARA: Army today claimed to have killed seven Pakistan army personnel in an action in the Keran sector in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Srinagar based spokesman of army Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that in the past 36 hours number of attempts were made by Pakistan to disturb peace in the Kashmir valley and target the Amarnath Yatra as well.

“A Border Action Team (BAT) attempt was made on one of the forward posts in Keran sector and foiled by alert troops resulting in neutralizing of five to seven Pakistan regulars/terrorists. In the valley four hardcore terrorists were neutralized,” said Colonel Kalia.

The army spokesman said that the force recovered cache of sniper rifle, IED and mine with Pakistan markings. “It clearly indicates complicity of Pakistan in terror activities. Security forces will continue to respond to all nefarious activities along LC and hinterland,” he said.
