APSCC condole demise of former GPC President

SRINAGAR: The All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has expressed its shock over the death of a prominent Sikh leader of J&K, Janak Singh Sodhi, who passed away after a brief illness at the Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, here today.

Sodhi was a former President of Gurdwara Parbandak Committee (GPC), Baramulla and an active leader of National Conference and Akali Dal. He remained active on Kashmiri politics for several years and was associated with Gurdwara affairs for decades.

The death has been condoled widely. “We have lost a bold and straightforward personality and representative of Sikh community”, said Jagmohan Singh Raina, APSCC Chairman in his statement.

Others who expressed shock and grief over Sodhi’s demise include Panjabi Sahit Sabha president Ajit Singh Mastana; ex secretary GPC Budgam, Hakumat Singh, a former President, GPC Pulwama and, Principal, Naranjan Singh and other leaders.
