PULWAMA: Amid a complete shutdown for the third straight day on Tuesday clashes broke out in south Kashmir Pulwama in demand of a body of local militant killed in Tangdhar on May 26 encounter.

According to a police official, scores of youth took to streets at multiple locations in town and pelted forces with stones.

The forces responded with tear-gas shelling and pellet firing, reports said.

On May 26, army claimed to have killed five foreign militants in north Kashmir’s Tanghdar sector. As the photographs of the slain militants surfaced on social media, one of the families in Pulwama claimed to have identified their missing son, Sheeraz Ahmad Sheikh, who was believed to have joined militancy.

The stone pelting in Washbugh Chowk, Muran Chowk and Dangerpora Chowk was going on when this report was being filed.
