Advisor Baseer Khan chairs officers meet to discuss public issues

SRINAGAR: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today chaired a high level meeting of officers regarding redressal of various issues brought into his notice by various delegations .

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, P K Pole, Deputy Commissioner,  Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, Chief Executive Officer Economic Reconstruction Agency, Syed Abid Rashid,  SMC Commissioner,  Gazanfar Ali, SSP Traffic, Javid Koul,  Chief Engineer JKPDCL, MD JKPCC, Aijaz Asad and other officers.

The meeting held threadbare discussion on multiple issues including development of Parimpora Bus stand, traffic congestion, unscheduled power curtailments, slow work on four-lane project undertaken by National Highway Authority of India affecting economy of Kashmir,  sky-rocketing prices of construction material and revision of compensation rate to the shopkeepers affected by relocation.

On the occasion, Advisor said that the UT govt. has already taken up the issue of work on National Highway with the Central government for completing it as soon as possible.

While taking notice of complaints regarding unscheduled power curtailments, Advisor directed CE JKPDCL to issue schedule for each district of Kashmir division by tomorrow and intimate public regarding any change of time or repairing issue in advance. He instructed the Chief Engineer to respond any issue regarding damage to transmission lines and transformers in minimum time.

Meanwhile, he also reviewed the disaster preparedness of Disaster Management Department and was informed that the department is ready to overcome any exigency. He was also informed  that all the dewatering pumps have been upgraded and functional to tackle with problem of water logging during rain and  snow fall.

Regarding recurring traffic jams and increase in transport in Srinagar city, Advisor instructed SP traffic to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for traffic management and identify the locations for car parking besides deployment of adequate personnel to manage the movement of vehicles.
