Meets PRIs & deputations at  Tral; Inspects ongoing RDD works

PULWAMA: As part of Public outreach program initiated by the J&K Administration under the Jan Abhiyan, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan today visited Tral and met several public deputations and individuals, who apprised him of their grievances and developmental demands of their respective areas.

District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer, Director RDD, SSP Awantipora, District Officers and other concerned functionaries were present on the occasion.

Around 12 deputations met the Advisor and projected their issues and demands. They sought up-gradation of civic amenities, Health, Education, Road connectivity, Drinking water, Power supply and adequate staff in schools and hospitals in their respective areas.

A Delegation led by BDC Tral raised the issue of strengthening of Panchayats, security Concerns, residential accommodation, provision of vehicles for mobility besides sought improvement of power scenario and potable water Supply in Tral.

He also demanded  construction of Attendant Sarai near Sub District Hospital Tral and development of Tourist places like Shikargah, Pastoona, Naristan and Kali Mandi. He raised the issue of shortage of staff in various health institutions besides rehabilitation of shopkeepers near Bus Adda Tral

The representatives of various political parties demanded special package for unemployed youth, introduction of PG courses in GDC Pulwama, beautification and development of Pulwama town, Development of Bus Adda and widening of main road from Awantipora to Pulwama.

Similarly, a delegation of Panches and Sarpanches interacted with  Baseer Khan and briefed him about the issues pertaining to Panchayats. They demanded further empowerment of Panchayats and enhancement of honorarium of PRI representatives besides up-grading of road connectivity, water supply and power scenario in their areas.

President Municipal Committee Tral, leading a deputation of elected ULB members, demanded conservation  of springs and other water bodies, construction of Marriage Hall and Abattoir at Tral.

He also demanded construction of Attendant Sarai near Sub District Hospital Tral besides development of Tourist places like Shikargah, Pastoona, Naristan and Kali Mandir.  He demanded  rationalization of PM – Kisan scheme, additional water harvesting tanks, and paddy thrushers, and demanded  regular weeding out and publishing of pensioners list in social welfare department.

A delegation of Fruit Growers demanded subsidy on Anti-Hail Net to protect the fruits from hailstorms, and subsidy on bore wells for perennial irrigation facility. They hailed District Administration’s swift compliance of LG’s directions in submitting proposals for setting up of Fruit Mandi at Tral .

Representatives of Gujjar and Bakerwal community demanded construction of Gujjar and Bakerwal hostel and schools for Tribal students, Construction of Pastuna-Wahab Sahib Road, inclusion of Gujar Bakerwals in BPL category besides motorable roads to far flung areas.

A Deputation representing  Girls Higher Secondary school Tral demanded construction of Boundary wall of school besides introduction of environmental science and Islamic studies subjects.

Rehabilitation of shopkeepers in Tral bus stand, renovation of temples, public library and board Office besides a horticulture nursery and jogging park in Tral  was demanded by a deputation of Civil Society Tral.

A deputation of Persons with disabilities demanded enhancement of monthly pension and inclusive education for disabled .

A delegation of civil society Aripal demanded a receiving station , posting of Tehsildar, up-gradation of PHC Aripal besides security for Ziyarat Sharief Satoora and up-gradation of Pastuna – Sahab Road.

A Sikh community deputation  demanded construction of Boundary Wall of Gurdwara at Tral, Sikh Sarai, Blood Storage Unit, a Public Library and fencing of Gurdwara at Awantipora.

Advisor gave patient hearing to all the delegations and assured that the Govt is serious about resolving all the public issues in a time bound manner. He said that strengthening of local bodies is priority of the Govt, besides effective measures have been taken to review the security and accommodation issues.

He said that the BDCs have an important role to connect people with the government and asked them to spread the awareness regarding the COVID mitigation and following of SOPs issued by the government.

Advisor Baeer Khan urged upon the officers to stay connected with people and be responsive to their problems. He also directed concerned officers to set timelines for completion of incomplete and languishing projects. He directed that the local issues like macadamization of roads, provision of drinking water, B2V works should be prioritized.

He added that people should take precautions like wearing of masks, maintaining of social distancing and following of SOPs issued by the Government time to time.

Earlier, the Advisor inspected various ongoing works under MGNREGA including the development of playground at Sherabad. The Advisor was accompanied by District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Director RDD, SSP Awantipora and ACD Pulwama.
