Day- long Training programme for Tribal Farmers organised at KVK Anantnag

 ANANTNAG: A day-long training programme under Tribal Sub Plan of AICRP Pulses and Maize was organised by Dry Land Agriculture Research Station, Rangreth in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anantnag for tribal farmers of District Anantnag today at KVK Anantnag in which more than 55 farmers participated 

Director Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, distributed Maize, Pulse seed bags, vermin-compost, bio-fertilizer and farming tool kits among the farmers.

The Director emphasized upon the farmers to adopt the technologies provided by SKUAST-Kashmir for improving their crop cultivation.  He suggested the farmers undertake natural farming for better and disease free yields. 

On the occasion, two publications on Pulse Cultivation Guide for Valley Farmers and Maize Crop Card were released and distributed among farmers. 

Head KVK Anantnag, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Ganai and PI AICRP pulses Dr. A. A. Lone briefed the farmers about the programmes and the importance of the ongoing schemes. 

Farmers expressed happiness for conducting such type of training and desired to participate in more such programmes in future and also provided feedback regarding their challenges in their existing agricultural practices.

The programme was also attended by Deputy Director Sheep Husbandry, Programme Coordinator KVK Kulgam, District Sheep Husbandry Officer and Scientists from DARS Rangreth.
