Two Militants Killed in Shalimar’s Twin Encounters

Srinagar: Two militants including Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit’s Salim Parray were killed in two separate encounters at Shalimar area of Srinagar outskirts on Monday. 

The two encounter broke out one after the other at Shalimar in late afternoon in which first the LeT’s Salim Parray was killed and later in another encounter in Gasu area of Shalimar, a Pakistani militant identified as Hafiz alias Hamza was killed.

IGP-K Vijay Kumar said that Srinagar police had received inputs about the presence of Salim Parray in the Shalimar Bagh carrying gun to kill some soft target. “In the wake of it, security forces laid cordon of the area and killed Salim Parray in a retaliatory firing,” said Vijay Kumar. 

Kumar termed it a big success for the security forces and said that Salim Parry was involved in the killing of around 12 civilians by slitting their throats during 2016 agitation. 

Regarding the second encounter in Shalimar in which Pakistani militant was killed, Kumar said that he was involved in the killing of two policeman in Bandipora and later shifted to Harwan area of Srinagar.
