Night curfew extended to all districts of J&K

Markets within municipal limits to open on alternate basis with 50 per cent capacity

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday extended the night curfew, which was in place in eight districts to contain the spread of Covid-19, to all Municipal and urban local body limits of all districts of the UT.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the government issued an order under number 22-JK (DMRRR) of 2021, dated 20-04-2021, which reads that “a detailed review of the current COVID situation in Jammu and Kashmir was conducted by the Hon’ble Lt Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, with the Chief Secretary, J&K, Financial Commissioner, Health; Administrative Secretary School Education, Administrative Secretary Higher Education; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu/Kashmir and other officers.”

On the basis of the above assessment, the State Executive Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred up on it under section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 ordered extension of night (Corona) curfew across Jammu and Kashmir.

“The Corona Curfew at night shall be extended to Municipal / urban local body limits of all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir with effect from 20.04.2021. It was already in force in eight districts earlier, from 10 pm to 6 am,” the order reads.

“Public transport (matadors / mini-buses / buses etc.,) in J&K shall be permitted to ply only at 50 % of its authorized seating capacity. The District Superintendents of Police shall ensure compliance to this effect. This shall take effect from 21.04.2021.”

“Only 50 % shops in major Market complexes /Bazaars/ Malls within the Municipal limits / urban local body limits shall be open on alternate basis through a rotation system. District magistrates of all districts shall devise a pattern to implement this, preferably in consultation with local market associations. This shall take effect from 21.04.2021,” it added.
